We're excited to share the latest news about the #FemDevsMeetup community in this summer recap. ☀️ 📬 We've had some great events recently, including meetups in Cologne and Frankfurt, and a productive orga meeting during gamescom. We're also thrilled to announce partnering with GAME:IN. Enjoy reading this newsletter and stay tuned for more updates in the future! 💚
Meet the Orga Team! 👋
During gamescom, we had the opportunity to meet with part of the #FemDevsMeetup Orga Team. We celebrated our Deutscher Computerspielpreis, discussed the future, and brainstormed ideas for new meetups! We are excited to announce that we will be organizing more meetups and a game jam in the coming months, so stay tuned!
#FemDevsMeetup & SavePoint Industry Gathering Cologne
If you're not familiar with SavePoint, you can check them out by following this link. We met at a nice traditional pub, had time to chat and mingle, and enjoyed good food and cold drinks. Despite everyone having a busy gamescom week, the room was packed, and we appreciate everyone who stopped by. It was wonderful making new connections and using the chance to meet while everyone was in Cologne!
#FemDevsMeetup & Creative Europe Desks NRW Get Together
Thanks to Film- und Medienstifting NRW, we had the chance to meet and share knowledge with Creative Europe Desks NRW and Women Making Games at the NRW booth in the gamescom business area! We discussed various topics related to the game industry and made valuable connections. We are looking forward to collaborating more with these organizations in the future.
#FemDevsMeetup Frankfurt at Lotum
Our #FemDevsMeetup in Frankfurt was hosted by Lotum, a game development company known for creating popular mobile games such as 4 Pics 1 Word. During the meetup, we had the chance to learn more about “How to communicate expectations and critique with your team effectively” in the talk by Anita Hackstuhl (Art Director at Sunscorched Studios).
Online Meetup CV Review Sessions 📝
We are excited to share that our #FemDevsMeetup community recently hosted our first-ever online meetup dedicated to reviewing CVs. This session was held on our Discord server and was designed to help members receive constructive feedback on their CVs.
The process was simple - members could book a slot and receive expert advice on how to improve their CVs. Even if they didn't manage to secure a slot, they were still able to listen in and learn valuable information about how to present their skills and experience in the best possible way.
We understand that not everyone could attend the session, which is why we have created a CV template that can serve as a source of inspiration. This template can help you to structure your CV in a way that showcases your abilities and makes you stand out from the crowd. Keep your eyes open for more review sessions!
GAME:IN is Our Event Partner 🧡
GAME:IN is a collective and community of FLINTA individuals and businesses committed to fighting sexism within the German games industry. Their manifesto forms the core of their initiative, with participants committing to its values. They aim to provide a safe space for people within the German-speaking industry by giving guidance and holding the industry accountable. We are proud to have them as our event partner, and we look forward to collaborating with them on more projects and initiatives in the future.
They also won the gamescom “Heart of Gaming” award this year, so let's give them a big round of applause! We can’t wait to see all the good things they'll bring to our industry!
Next Up 👀
Stay tuned for more information about our upcoming annual game jam and the next Düsseldorf meetup! We have some exciting plans in the works, and we can't wait to share them with you all soon. Thank you for your continued support of #FemDevsMeetup!
