Dear game developers from NRW,
Mediennetzwerk.NRW together with #FemDevsMeetup invites you to a special edition of Gametreff NRW on November 24, 2022 at LAVAlabs in Düsseldorf. During two talks, Melanie Taylor (Narrative Game Designer / Founder) and Casilda de Zulueta (Freelance Technical Artist / Animator) will give insights into exciting topics before the evening ends with drinks and finger food. Additionally, games created in a game jam of the FemDevs will be playable. The event will be held entirely in English.
The event is aimed at women, marginalized groups, and allies. After the successful inaugural event in February this year, Mediennetzwerk.NRW would like to continue supporting the #FemDevsMeetup in its mission to increase the visibility of women and marginalized groups of people in the games industry while motivating them to become an equal part of a diverse and creative industry.
Speakers
Mel Taylor
Founding a game development company is hard. Mel has already done it twice. This is a personal talk about the ups and downs of indie development, starting your own company, and what it is like to release a game, to be successful, and to fail. This talk is meant to be an inspiration by telling Mel's personal story in the games industry.
Casilda de Zulueta
Casilda talks about how it can be both luck and curse at the same time when the gaming passion becomes - or rather: has to become - a source of income! Casilda wants to send a message of hope on the one hand and share some cautionary tales about the consequences of not taking care of your physical and mental health on the other.
Showcase your games!
If you'd like to participate and show your game, please fill out this form and use the free registration on the Medien.NRW.App to get your event ticket.
